Food joints in and around Salalah

Dear friends,
You might be a pure bachelor (by chance), a chronic-converted bachelor(hi hi), or alas a fellow forced bachelor-this blog is dedicated to you out there, who is in search of a decent food joint, esp.for Indian/Kerala food, here in Salalah. I am regularly visiting some of my favorite food courts and messes, and would like to share with you that. Let me first classify them as per your preference, and you people can decide which one to visit for satisfying your tummy.

Veggies delight-


Well my favorite one now a days is RajBhog Gujarati hotel just at Salalah Chawk opp. Police/Fire station near SBT exchange. Others are

• Uduppi at Salalah Chawk
• Saf Saf Annapoorna again Salalah Chawk
• Milan Gujarati hotel after RajBhog , situated on the same side road as RajBhog hotel, infront of Mangalya hotel ,left side.

For Veg snacks you can opt for

• RajBhog Gujarati hotel where they serve vada,vadapav,all south dishes,panipuri ,bhelpuri etc.Hmmm mouth watery..
• Salalah bakery hotel- its a small kerala hotel ; route as follows- Take right turn after Salalah Chawk  Police/Fire station from the traffic signal. As you travel hardly 200 mtrs you can see one hotel with yellow board. Delicious dosas and porottas along with evening snacks like vada,banana roast etc.(This hotel serves non-veg too, so if you are a strict veggie take your chances!)
• Krishnetan's hotel- Great and delicious food. You will get all types of dishes here, but no lunch or thalis. Mainly veg food, but serve eggs too.(hope that will go with the current type of vegetarianism). All types of north south snacks , including chapathi, porota, sandwiches etc. Great taste and very cheap price. 100% recommended any time!

Non veg delights

• Try Silver diamond for a change. Gets all time all types of food-continental, chinese,indian,kerala esp. Appan and stew is really finger licking. Fish curries also not bad. Server good chicken and meat items too.Route- Go straight from Lulu to Salalah Chawk signal towards New salalah. Just before the first signal right side.
• Indian hotel also not bad in terms of variety and price. Delicious food also most of the times.

Tired of hotel food??!! Try mess food for a change. Cheap, good and best.

• Rajan's mess- Telling route is difficult as its slightly located after two side roads. Ask any one as you walk towards the back side of Snow white Salalah Chawk. Great, clean and cheap food esp. non veg items.
• Kutti mess- Again route a bit murky to describe here. Ask for directions from guys and its located just behind Nokia showroom left side as you travel from Phone chawk(Harami chawk) towards Salalah via salam street.
• Mitran/Prashant mess- This is near the banana shops on way towards Hafa. Travel towards Salalah through that road and take a right at the first T-road. Ask for directions better at the banana shops. Great food, and lunch served in banana leaves. Good quality but a bit of less cleanliness(if you can adjust that, its one of the tastiest food that you will ever get)

Hope this small blog will satisfy your food urge and especially your hunger war. But what ever you like, where ever you might be, there is nothing better and loving than a good Homely Food!!!
